The Maruja Mallo sweater is knitted completely by hand in the jacquard technique, a knitting technique consisting of working with several colors at once. The chevron or zigzag design is inspired by Galician tradition, which can be found in quilt designs and traditional textile patches. The older ones have embroidered small dots of color scattered like brushstrokes of an abstract painting.
The name of the sweater is a tribute to Maruja Mallo, Galician artist and painter born in Viveiro and belonging to the generation of the 27th, also considered a referent of Vanguard painting of the s. XX alongside artists such as Salvador Dalí or André Breton.
The Maruja Mallo sweater is made of high quality wool: 50% babyllama and 50% merino in black and white and embroidered with the same wool in orange, red, yellow and blue.
This sweater is part of the “maruja mallo” collection consisting of a hat, mittens and a matching collar.
Also available upon request in any size prior contact by mail or phone. Average production time of 2-3 weeks.
