The Maruja Mallo collar is knitted completely by hand in the jacquard technique, a knitting technique consisting of working with several colors at once. The chevron or zigzag design is inspired by Galician tradition, which can be found in quilt designs and traditional textile patches. The older ones have embroidered small dots of color scattered like brushstrokes of an abstract painting.
The name of the throat is a tribute to Maruja Mallo, Galician artist and painter born in Viveiro and belonging to the generation of the 27th, also considered a referent of the painting of the Vanguards of the s. XX alongside artists such as Salvador Dalí or André Breton.
